Key takeaways from the recent polls
With just over 2 weeks until the general election, all parties are
ramping up their campaigns to try and gain your vote. This article
will provide a brief, understandable summary from the recent polls:
· All polls are predicting a significant labour majority, and
it is almost a given that Keir Starmer and the Labour party will form
the next government. They are predicted to gain as many as 461 seats.
· The Conservatives are facing many challenges, one of them
being the rise of Reform UK under Nigel Farage. His party is splitting
the right wing vote, and the Tories are losing many voters to reform.
· With the possible split of the right wing vote, the Liberal
Democrats could end up forming the opposition, as they are predicted
63 seats, just 17 less than the Conservatives.
· Nigel Farage believes he is the best candidate to form the
opposition against Keir Starmer, as the Liberal Democrats and Labour
agree on too many policies, and the Conservatives are too busy with
their infighting. He aims to become a major political force by 2029.
· The SNP are set to lose many seats, and recent YouGov polling
suggests that no SNP seats are safe in Scotland, with most of them
likely being lost to Labour, meaning that this is the most unpopular the SNP have been in years.
This election is looking to be one to go in the history books, with a
possible massive Labour majority, the possible end of the Conservative
party, the rise of reform, and the possibility of the Liberal
Democrats forming the opposition. Of course, no votes have been cast
yet, so we won’t know for sure until the votes have been counted. Make
sure you have your say on the 4th of July by registering to vote.
